The 2016 / 2017 season is the first time this shield was played for. It is played for by teams from the premier division.  It is a singles competition and two players are permitted to play from each team. The players cannot be anyone who played in the singles or doubles that season. There is a fee charged for entry which is donated in full currently to the Hospice in Raheny. The charity is decided at the AGM of the league. To date we have donated 7,360 euros to the hospice.

The shield commerates Dave Carroll who was a great supporter of the league and played with Parnells and Innisfails clubs winning cup and league titles.
