The John Brady Cup was first played for in the 2004/2005 league season. It was a continuation of the Northside Pool League Cup which was first contested for in the 1989/1990 league season. Shelbourne Blue were the first winners of the cup. The Northside Pool League Cup was won first by Ierne and they retained it for the next two seasons.

John played with Innisfails GAA Club and earlier to that with the Beldale Club.
